A chip mounter is a device designed to place surface mount components with high speed and precision. It is the most critical and sophisticated piece of equipment in the entire SMT production process. Evolving from the early low-speed mechanical alignment models, chip mounters have now advanced to high-speed optical alignment systems, and are moving towards the development trend of multi-functionality, flexible connectivity and modularization.

Chip mounter: also known as "mounting machine" or associated with "Surface Mount Technology (SMT)". In a production line, it is configured after a dispenser or screen printer. It is a device that accurately places surface mount components onto PCB pads by moving its mounting head. Chip mounters are categorized into two types: manual and fully automatic.

Points to Note When Selecting an SMT Chip Mounter from These Perspectives
Imported chip mounters currently account for over 80% of the market share, primarily due to their high stability, reliability, fast placement speed, high precision, low failure rate and ease of maintenance. Despite years of development, domestic chip mounters still leave much to be desired in terms of quality reliability and stability. Their placement precision and speed are far inferior to those of imported brands, while they also offer poor residual value. Therefore, domestic chip mounters are mostly adopted by SMT factories with low production capacity or simple product lines that do not have stringent requirements for precision and speed.
